Werner F. Dohmann was born in the little town of Sandebeck, Germany in eastern Westphalia on 13 Jun 1845. At the age of 5, he immigrated to Texas with his family who first settled in the Frelsburg area of Colorado County. In 1867 the family moved to nearby New Ulm in Austin County. About 1872 they moved once more to the Weesatche area of Goliad County where they put down lasting roots.

This 255-page book includes a biography of Werner F. Dohmann who fought for the Confederacy during the Civil War, an ancestral genealogy of Werner F. Dohmann and his wife Anna Maria Dorbritz, and descendant information on the families of their seven children.

The book features over 100 photographs and an every-name index. Over 470 surnames are mentioned in the book. These names are most prominent in Goliad County but also include names from the counties of Austin, Colorado, DeWitt, Lavaca, Victoria, and many others. For those who are interested in some background information about the book, here are the general steps that were used:

• Reunion by Leister Productions was used for the genealogy database. Reunion is the best genealogy program on the market today (IMHO). Of course you must also have the best computer (a Macintosh) to be able to use it. ;-)
• All charts and tables were produced with Reunion
• FrameMaker by Adobe was used as the text layout program for this book. Many of the techniques used in this book could not have been done as easily, if at all, with any other book preparation software. Unfortunately, Adobe no longer makes a Mac version of FrameMaker.
• PhotoShop by Adobe was used to scan and process all photos and other graphics that appear in the book.
• The entire book was written, compiled, and printed on a Macintosh computer system.
